Live With Expectancy

By Sherry Womble

(Read the power-packed articles at bottom of page)

I was raised in a church and a home full of rules and regulations being lead from a very early age to always be vigilant to stay on track. Before the age of ten I had been baptized and was well versed in many church doctrines, the meat of the Word. When I got to college, I was introduced to another religion uncovering “grace” or the milk of the Word. I found this way much more lenient and less confining. With this less confining lifestyle, I wandered off in the direction of the world getting married to an abusive man desperately trying to find my footing for 9 years. God very graciously helped me to get out of that relationship alive with my two children. The biggest test of my faith came as we entered into 7 years of court battles for the custody of our children. During this wilderness time, I stumbled into a group who were learning yet another way to study the Bible from the Hebrew perspective. For the first time I understood the scriptures, why the Bible was written and the covenants of God. The blend of meat and milk was now upon me, and I walked back under God’s covering. I now held the truths of the commands of God and had the testimony of Jesus Christ as stated in Revelation 12:17.

During this very rocky road in my life, it was the constant encouragement and inspiration of those around me which helped me to hang onto God’s promises. I learned we, as men and women, have the right to overcome Satan’s abusive attacks. We can be freed from the captivities holding our mind and our body from being in complete communion with God. Exercising this type of faith that God is who He says He is and that His Son was sent for Salvation gives real victory, real freedom from all things as stated in I John 5:4. We no longer have to wonder if this is God’s will that we can be an overcomer Rev. 3:21.

We don’t have to pat our friend on the back during their travesty saying, “I’m sure it will work out”...Instead we know it’s true! That’s the guarantee Jesus died for...His resurrection made everything possible!

I want to scream this truth from the mountaintop, and I want to write this hope in words that can reach the darkest parts of a man’s heart to see there is another way. God is your teacher, meeting you right where you are to build in you a new heart, one that does not tarnish but glows with His love and His grace 2 Thes. 2:16-17.

Live large, friend! Learn the many facets of God’s character so that you can live with an expectancy that brings grace and love into every room you enter. Walk in faith – walk in God’s victory and set the captives free!! Shemah!
